P & C Association
Hunters Hill Public School has an active and enthusiastic Parents and Citizens' Association. The P & C Committee has a very supportive team of parents working for the betterment of our children's education. In addition to the P & C executive the P & C also has a group of sub-committees which provide excellent facilities, services and support to the school and our children. Parents are actively encouraged to join sub-committees, attend meetings and support P & C functions and activities.
The P & C meets on the second Wednesday of each month (school holidays excepted) in the school library at 7:30pm. Meetings include receipt of correspondence, reports of various activities, a personal report by the Principal, allocations of funds and general business where matters of interest concerning the school and education are discussed. Reports from sub committees are also presented.
The P & C Annual General Meeting is held in November of each year.
The Hunters Hill P&C Committee of 2006 is undertaking a major task:
The need for additional classrooms has arisen due to the following reasons:
-
Class sizes are getting smaller and the Government is phasing in these requirements from Kindergarten to Year 6.
-
Smaller class sizes means better learning but unfortunately it also requires more classrooms.
-
There has been a trend of higher enrolment of kindergarten children over the last couple of years, which looks set to continue;
-
We currently have one demountable classroom and we expect the arrival of a second demountable classroom
-
The location of the demountables removes valuable playground space.
The area above the library has been identified as an area where two additional classrooms can be built. Cost estimates have indicated construction costs of approximately $600,000.
P&C Building Fund:
Through a variety of fundraising efforts in recent years the P & C has already raised $200,000 and requires approximately another $100,000 in order to receive Government co-funding. Our goal is to raise these funds and commence construction in 2007.
We have therefore begun a Building Fund to which all donations above $2.00 are tax-deductible.
A donation of any amount to this fund will be greatly appreciated.
Our first major fundraising project is Buy-a brick
So in addition, to making a tax-deductible gift we will for any donations of $50.00 or more have your name or your family’s name recorded forever in our commemorative Friends and Family wall to be located within the new extension. Below are details.
We hope especially to have all past School prefects represented on this wall.
Please email this page to any past students that you are in contact with.
We hope that you remember your time spent within the Hunters Hill Public schools playgrounds and classrooms fondly and are able to help the next generation receive the same benefits.
We encourage you to participate in this fundraising so we can begin “Building for our children”.
